Meet Madison Freeland, EBAN’s Gym and Hair Guru
Hey there!
Hi! I’m Madison, your go-to Gym Girlie, natural hair guru, and all-around fitness aficionado.
As a two-time Howard University alumna, my journey from the Philadelphia Department of Recreation (PDR) to a record-breaking collegiate athlete has been all about perseverance and passion.
My accolades in the pool, which date back to my years at the William Penn Charter School, culminated in All-American status for my team. At Howard University I broke a few records and was humbled to be named team captain, all while pursuing a bachelor’s in Business Management and a master’s in Finance.
My experience as a Black female swimmer had an alternate life; it included a personal battle with the rigors of hair maintenance while in a sport that was completely unfriendly to my hair! A struggle that even pushed some of my peers to quit. But from that struggle was born my platform, NaturallyMadlove, a space dedicated to showing that you can indeed manage natural hair and excel in aquatics.
Transitioning from competitive swimming to a self-structured fitness routine, alongside my corporate career, my personal mission has expanded; I’m set to empower young Black women to embrace their natural kinky coils, pursue their athletic ambitions, and show up authentically in all areas of life.
As part of EBAN’s #MovementIsMedicine project, I’m committed to helping you reclaim your natural state of strength and beauty, inside the gym, in the pool and out in the fresh air.
It’s all about holistically re-aligning our lives in accordance with our most natural and healthy state.
Natural hair influencer and passionate Gym Girlie. As a former Division 1 Collegiate Swimmer for Howard University and a proud two-time alumna, I bring focus and a splash of fun to wholistic health, physical movement and self-care.
I’m committed to helping you reclaim your natural state of strength and beauty, inside the gym, in the pool and out in the fresh air. It’s all about re-aligning our lives in accordance with our natural healthy state.
I’m proud to collaborate with EBAN’s Movement is Medicine project, where together we’ll tackle our health and natural hair challenges with a personal commitment to uplift and realign our lives through physical movement!
