Ever wish you had the opportunity to learn about Senegalese culture AND an African language?!?

Wish no more. In the tradition of Living Life Loud and Unapologetically, EBAN presents Wolof 101 and Senegal Cultural Exchange! Wolof 101 and Senegal Cultural Exchange is a relaxed, cross-cultural exchange and language class led by Mamedjarra Diop, a Senegalese/African-American cultural exchange specialist and owner of Sunu Thiossane (pronounced Soo-noo Cho-Sahn), an arts and academic enrichment youth development agency based in Dakar, Senegal.

Join us on a virtual Zoom class this Tuesday, April 21st, 6:00pm EST as we present this unique opportunity to take a step in the direction of your heritage and learn something meaningful during this challenging time. The classes are completely FREE but is limited to the first 100 people who join.

    Mamedjarra DiopAbout Mamedjarra

    Originally from New York, Mamedjarra Diop is a Senegalese/African-American raised in both Senegal and New York. She received a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration at the City University of New York and her MA in Arts Administration at Baruch College (CUNY). Her education and experience have given her the opportunity to speak at the United Nations, work with various NGOs in Senegal and the US. Most importantly, Mamedjarra values the significance of giving back to her community but also giving validation to the youth on both continents as a tool for self-worth. Her passion is to empower youth to make better life choices through education, culture and the arts and, to also be an example of achievement and pride among African people.

    About Sunu Thiossane

    Sunu Thiossane (pronounced Soo-noo Cho-Sahn) was founded in 2011. As an arts and academic enrichment youth development agency based in Dakar, Senegal, our mission is to provide high caliber arts training to young people across and within various disciplines while providing the necessary tools to build community awareness and empowerment. Sunu Thiossane envisions a world where all young folks have equitable access to the arts.
